Vet and Wild [HD]

dr. pol
I love it. I love to see the doc. Work he is so down to earth. Can`t ware to get more.

Wild ride with a veternarian who is passionate about what he does.
Fast paced stories that really demonstrate the true life of a large animal vet and his family who join him in his practice. No sugar coating here. Shows the real nitty-gritty side and the fact that all stories do not have a happy ending.

just makes me laugh and sometimes cry
I just love Dr. Pol and his whole family I am 71 Years old and still working I am healthy and very busy even though I am working per-deim I also love animals have 4 dogs two of whom are therapy dogs the two older ones just hang out and love me as I love them!

This Season Not Up To Par
I am a big fan of Army Wives and loved Seasons 1-5.
Season 6, however, has fallen very flat.
Not only is Pamela gone (the actress left the show) but Claudia Joy is also gone.
With no explanation from Lifetime about where Kim Delaney is or acknowledgement that she won't be back.
The new characters brought on to fill in the missing pieces have not cut it.
Jackie and her story line are not interesting.
Neither is Gloria's story line.
Roland and Joan were much more interesting before they had kids.
Now all their plot lines are kid focused.
Poor Michael has been reduced to a recurring character since there is no Claudia Joy.
The show just isn't what it used to be and I won't be a bit surprised if it does
not return for a 7th Season.

Fantastic
This whole season was spectacular! I am by far not a cryer when it comes to shows or movies, but this show has moved me to tears more than once. Sad tears and happy tears. The shows delve into issues that our military families are actually dealing with.

interesting setting on army base
liked the concept see how people live in military community, just seemed too petty between high level wives. but still interesting

Motorweek - Episode 52

What's not to love!
Come on, this show is the bomb. They have come a long way, I'd watch just for Pat Goss!! A perennial favorite.

It's OK
It's not top gear. It's a little communistic with it's CO2 yearly readings. And John Davidson really doesn't need to yell all the time we can hear you John. Maybe when you started, microphones sucked I don't know. Anyway, it's informative but could be a little more entertaining.

Another auto review series that falls flat.
I am an automobile enthusiast and enjoy watch good car and truck shows that have details and reviews on various makes and models as well as upgrades, maintenance and other auto related items. Unfortunately many of these shows are, well... boring. MotorWeek is no different, with what I expected to be a show of true reviews and tips came across as merely a badly scripted show with very dry dialog that should have never made it to Season 31. With this said, I have only tried to watch Season 31, and no other seasons. I hope that the early years were much better as in this season I could not even finish episode 1. The hosts don't come across as having any knowledge about automobiles and this turned me away immediately. The reviews sound more like a paragraph from a brochure that based on a real test of the vehicles.
I enjoy TopGear (the UK version), while mostly comedy, the reviews feel as if they are based on true experience.
I also enjoyed the early years of American Choppers...

Please Adopt Me!
I just love this show. The family is fantastic and the situations the are put in have me rolling every time. The family dynamics is just awesome and they seem very legit. I caught this show's season 3 and finally got sick of waiting on some sort of marathon so i bought them online and it was worth it 100%. Im also a huge fan of Duck Dynasty and I put them in a very similar class.

Great Down Home Fun To Watch
I really like that the show is about plain old normal people. Plus, it makes you laugh and not alot of cat fights/drama.

My Redneck Vacation: Season 2
Enjoyed the show. It was great to see the families invade and conquer Britain. Can't wait to see where they end up next. Hope the staff at the mansion gets a chance to come to the states.

After watching the first series - It is a Meh!
If you dont like supernatural, horror genre then you may find this boring. After watching the first series I dont know if should continue watching this show. Maybe the days that I have nothing to watch I might consider it.

Okay
This series is ok- it's kind of like unsolved mysteries style nothing ground breaking here. Watch at your leisure.

Final three words.

Meh
It is interesting, but some of their facts really seem to be off. They also redo the same urban legend several times by just changing one or two elements of the story.

Believe: The Misfit Pawn

Needed some tweaks but an OK story.
This was a nice storyline. Unfortunately it takes more than a good plot to make an endearing movie. With a few improvements, this could have been a decent flick. There is a rule that a story should also show not tell. This movie did both in a two scene sequence. We saw the scene then listened to the hero relate the story of what happened in that scene to another character. Not good for a type A personality like me. Then there was a song played and shots of the characters - shots from earlier in the movie. I don't understand why they'd need to repeat images. If a film is going to take a break to play a relevant song with lyrics that speak to the situation, I would like to see scenes that show new things happening - small things that don't need dialogue but allow me insight into what is going on to get characters from point A to point B. The ending came up like a freight train. I had no idea the movie was on the verge of the closing credits when the hero tells us in a speech how the...

Dreams From My Real Father: A Story of Reds and Deception

This Movie Answers Questions and Fills in Blanks
Some will call this film conjecture, but for me it filled in a lot of blanks and made perfect sense. I have done a lot of reading on Barack Obama since before he was elected. (He was my senator from IL.) I always felt we were being asked to vote for a pig in a poke because really so little was known about him. He hid his grades and college records, and there were lies and changing stories about his friendships, connections, etc. If you are transparent, you don't have to lie, hide things, or change your story. Plus, unlike most candidates, there were no friends, classmates, or people in his past who came out to talk about him. Some who attended college when he did, said they didn't even know or recall him. Strange. And it didn't add up. His books told us what HE wanted us to know, but there again, it just didn't all square. So people like Jerome Corsi and others started investigating and asking questions. Then the facts really weren't squaring. The birth certificate...

Refreshing Alternative to the Obama Media House of Worship
To all of the critics of this film, I say, its a welcome breath of a President who has frozen all of his personal records, all of his academic records, and has more than flaunted multiple fake birth certificates. Regardless of your view of him, any thinking person can see he's a person hiding things, and then also hiding nothing. Its interesting to see how divided the reviews on this film are. They're almost half positive, half negative. The review status alone is almost a statement about this President in that he's no unifying voice. He's a divider and will continue to be. But he's also a myth maker. He has all of the myth believers deeply infatuated, and then those that see through the myth, deeply antagonized. Its like one half of the country took the blue pill, one the red. For those awake, I'm thankful for this film. And for me, as watcher, thinker, vs "believer," its not just about Obama, its about a long time deception being staged here in America through our White House and...

Your Roommate

Just the Right Mix of Comedy, Drama and Relevance.
The dynamic duo, Kenya Cagle (director) and Mack Williams (writer), are film makers to watch. Your Roommate is often funny, but the humor doesn't hide the serious message of this very important film. The film is all about finding love in unexpected and what happens when friends become at odds because of decisions made by the heart. The actors, although relatively, unknown bring such talent and passion to their roles that their performances linger on long after the ending credits. Another bonus is the fine musical score. Your Roommate by Cagle and Williams is just the right mix of comedy, drama and relevance.

Award Winning Independent Film!
This film is a no brainer about love and broken promises. It is a movie that makes you feel good and laugh at the same time. When I recieved the sceenplay I couldn't stop laughing. I realized that we were on to something. Veteran Monet C. Dunham, director and musical genius stepped in and used her special brand of spirituality to ensure the right mix and cast of characters. Together these young thespians combined their creative ingenuity to produce one of the funniest motion pictures all year. Your Roommate was shown in many festivals. In April of this year it won the gold award for best picture at the Philafilm International Festival in Philadelphia.

The Final Battle

Needs much more variety to stay fresh
The show is a great idea, but as another reviewer commented, there is just so much of the same thing one can watch. How many times in the first season do we have to watch the animation of a barge overtaking a tug? Once or twice is probably good enough for most viewers to understand. Would I buy a second season? I would give them a chance, but if they did not change things, the second season would be my last.

The lakes are massive and instead of another stupid reality show, how about featuring other operators on other lakes and in other ports? Navigation of the Port of Cleveland might prove interesting. How about rough weather up in Lake Superior? Deep draft vessels might find Lake St. Clair a real challenge. There has to be a story or two about that. Certainly, the SS Badger is a warrior in its own right. How about featuring the consumer supply traffic to any number of the inhabited islands? Let's not forget the tall ships. So, my question to the producer is what exactly is...

Overall quitevinteresting if you are intrigued by the subject
I thought a very interesting human view of the long hours and stresses both mental and physical involved in moving large loads on the great lakes. I would have been even more interested in probing more deeply some of the technical boat and line handling issues or seeing a bit more of the few really rough water time periods that were edited out.

But overall I thought an engaging glimpse into some of the varied operations on Lake Michigan.. I would have watched a second season.

Interesting but Repetitive
There is only so long watching them break ice and pull large loads around is interesting. After that it just becomes more of the same.

This is a true story for so many women, including myself. I experienced domestic violence in my past relationships!. And i can relate to this move first-hand in so many ways. This movie is recommended for anyone who may be a victim of domestic violence or curious to wanting to know about domestic violence. My advice to anyone who is going through domestic violence is to please get help and get out of the relationship. Mr. Nick Dalmacy thanks for making this powerful movie and putting together a true wake-up call not just for the black community, but any race of people thats experiencing the same thing.

BEST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE MOVIE OF ALL TIMES!!!!

This film provides a good introduction to the Findhorn community, and provides insight into both the accomplishments and struggles that the group faced as they grew into a larger organization.

The film makers also did an excellent job of providing an egalitarian view of the individuals involved in the Findhorn project, and gave equal face time to group members regardless of their status as celebrities in the wider culture.

Clarification for those McLintock fans!
Buy the AUTHENTIC version-ASIN: B000ANVPPQ (McLintock Wayne Authorized Edition), DO NOT buy ASIN: B000006OS2 (McLintock).

I noticed that reviews on the two dvd's are being mixed together, and making it difficult for others to distinguish between the wonderful feedback of the former to that of the God awful latter dvd.

McLintock - Great movie...buy the AUTHORIZED version!
I've been a McLintock fan since 1963...when it came out to the movies. My dad took me to see it on my 11th birthday. I held off buying the VHS version once I discovered the Wayne Foundation had not released an "authorized" copy. Once it did, I purchased three...just in case one got damaged! Yes...I love the movie. For DVD customers....it IS worth the wait. If, as you can see from other reviews, the transfer quality to DVD is poor, then why waste your money now, when you can (HOPEFULLY!!) purchase the legitimate product when the Wayne Foundation releases it! This is a GREAT movie for all ages. Kids love the shenanigans, teens like the romance, and us old-timers just like an easy-on-the-eyes and -ears movie with a happy ending. This is the only movie review I've ever written, but the movie was worth it.

Paramounts the one
Paramount has done a great job with the four movies in their collection-island in the sky, the high and the mighty, mclintock, and hondo. I wish that the reviewers state if the copy they're reviewing is the paramount copy just released or the other vastly inferior copies. That way Paramount won't get a bad rap for dreck they didn't produce.

Chino - Digitally Remastered

A western of modest virtues
Those seeking one of those "spaghetti westerns" which are filled with noise and violence and exaggerated flourishes will probably be disppointed in "Chino." It moves at a deliberate pace, keeps the action in check, and knows the virtue of silence. The result is an odd, understated movie that almost qualifies as a "character study."

Charles Bronson plays a loner who runs a small horse-farm in the waning days of the American frontier. He takes in a runaway boy as a helper, visits an Indian village on the verge of extinction, and engages in a hesitant courtship with the sister of a hostile landowner. That's about it for the plot which concludes in a somber, realistic fashion.

The by-play between Bronson and real-life wife Jill Ireland is mildly amusing, the scenery is attractive and well-photographed, and for those who like to see Bronson with his shirt off, there's a scene where he's hanged by the wrists and flogged across his bare back by one of the...

Digitally Remastered??? Perhaps to Braille
Charles Bronson is always great. Jill Ireland is always beautiful. However, this movie has a dull, uninspired story line. There is little to no redeeming value. No happiness. The visual is dark, and very hard to see, all the way through. If this movie was digitally restored, it must have been a box of ashes before. Watch if you want. You'll need glasses afterwards.

An excellent and stylish film
I have just watched "Chino" and I loved it. The acting is brilliant, the characters are well defined, there is depth and humor, and excellent camera work. The landscapes are magnificent. I didn't find this film boring at all. On the contrary, it seemed a bit short. This film is an important achievement. It has style and beauty. I recommend it to anyone who is not looking only for incessant screams and shooting in Westerns, but for something deeper and broader.

6 Bullets

Good dtv!
To my surprise, this is playing on Google Play for only 3.99 so I rushed to watch it...twice for that matter. I rather enjoyed it. I'd rank it pretty much on the same level as Assassination Games, JCVD's and Ernie Barbarash's other collaboration. Both movies were on the cusp of making the leap from being "good" to being "damn good". The script in AG is a bit stronger but JC does a much better job in 6B. He is in fantastic shape and doesn't sleepwalk at all through his performance. He looks and performs the best he has in years. The action is pretty well done and there is a good amount of it...even quite stylish at times. Like AG, Ernie gives us a really cool opening intro to the movie and JC kicks some serious ass in it. For the most part, 6B is shot really well, considering the budget. Acting wise, I thought everyone was above average for a DTV...with the exception of Bianca(JC's daughter). Even though she isn't in it that much, I thought her line delivery was just awful. Kris(JC's...

Better than expected
As action movies go, this one was above average solely because of the acting of Joe Flanigan. Without him, it would have been just another Van Damme movie set in an eastern European country with bad local actors. The plot was simple, a couple loses their daughter and has to enlist Van Damme's character to help get her back. Anna-Louise Plowman was adequate as the near hysterical mom who's not quite the shrinking violet you might expect, and Charlotte Beaumont was terrific as the daughter. But it was Flanigan and his expressive face that stole the show. Let's hope this exposure leads to bigger and better roles. Oh, and Van Damme was more like his old self than usual also.

Good film; Van Damme place in my heart is assured.
I rented this from redbox, curious to see what Van Damme was up to after Expendables 2. Since my teen years I have nourished a soft spot in my heart for him, and have followed all his films since the 90s. I was saddened to hear about his substance abuse issues, and hoped he would overcome these obstacles. After seeing S.Segall's latest B-release, I didn't have terribly high hopes for this movie, but was really pleasantly surprised by its quality on all counts, and so pleased to see JVD in the martyred-hero role that I love him best in. I prefer him as a tormented good guy to a villain, although he did make a nasty-hot-bad-ass in E2. The subject matter, child-sex-trafficking, was very current and presented in a very moving and non-cheesy way. Eastern Euro location; very evocative and cool. The script, editing, dialogue, character development were basically excellent. There is one beat'em-up scene set in the butcher storage area that is pretty macabre and very striking. For a short...

Sedona

The Perfect Place to Live
This film shows the immense beauty and the magical atmosphere of Sedona. A lighthearted drama - comedy, it climaxes with the perfect ending. The film amazingly captures the essence of many of the human characters who inhabit Sedona. As many of my friends said, "It is so-o-o Sedona!" I enjoyed the film tremendously and bought copies for everyone in my family.

Mountain Kat
I live here, and I get tired of people calling this the woo-woo capital of the world. There is more woo-woo going on in California than this little slice of heaven. People who actually live here have an afinity for the gorgeous red mountains, Oak Creek Canyon, zillions of stars at night, the lack of walled-in housing tracks and malls, the wildlife, the plethora of art, and the sound of wind in the trees at night along the canyon. We do have folks from the New Age community who try to explain all this beauty with the latest mumbo-jumbo du jour, but just watch the opening scenes from Sedona The Movie, and it will take your breath away. It does that every day when you live here. The movie was charming at first viewing, but much deeper and satisfying when you watch it again. My office is the building that was used as the salon where Frances has her Spiritual Pedicure, and I was expecting the movie to dissolve into Heebee JeeBee hijinks and farce after that, but it takes a turn into...

A lovely, lovely surprise
Being one of those killjoy skeptics, I mostly went to snicker -- I mean, this is SEDONA, Arizona, woo-woo capital of the known universe and parts beyond. C'mon now!

I am so very glad I did.

Was there woo-wooery? Some, and mostly played for fun, as our harried, no-nonsense heroine is confronted by one .... um, "colorful" character after another. And of course there are there-is-no-such-thing-as-coincidence coincidences, but without those, would there be any movies at all?

The script was fun, the direction spot-on, the actors well-cast and charming, and the cinematography...well, this is SEDONA Arizona after all. The visuals are just stunning.

All appendages up; the world needs more indie films like this one.

Middle Men

The Internet is for Porn
A section in the end credits for "Middle Men" asserts that, although it was inspired by a true story, the film is, in fact, a work of fiction. I've tended to find this annoying, especially in relation to horror movies. In the case of "Middle Men," however, the assertion fascinates me, for Christopher Mallick, the film's producer, has claimed that much of what we see - 80%, apparently - is based on his own experiences. A former chief executive of Paycom, the Texas-born entrepreneur was a key player in bringing the adult entertainment industry to the internet, pioneering the technology that makes online purchases, especially monthly memberships to porn sites, easy and secure. In essence, he was a middle man. His efforts have paid off; according to a set of statistics published by Jerry Ropelato in 2006, the annual revenue of internet porn was nearly $3 billion in the United States alone. I have no doubt that the rate has increased since then.

As to how much of this film is...

Despite a great cast Middle Men is barely worth the time
With such a great cast this seemed to be a solid bet but both my wife and I were disappointed. And how this is in the Comedy section is a mystery. Yes it had a few funny moments but its definitely not a comedy. At the end of the movie we both wished we had made a different choice. As a "based on true event" type movie it was interesting but even then you will probably find many other movies that are more entertaining and have better character development. I kept feeling like there were points in the story that were being left out just to make the main character look better.

True story about the men who got rich off internet porn. If it wasn't true I wouldn't have believed it. A good time. I say B+
A true story about the men who came up with the idea to sell adult entertainment off the internet. After two slackers (Ribisi & Gabriel Macht) make over a million dollars in two months by coming up with a program to make money off of internet porn the russian mob wants thier cut. They become partners with Jack Harris (Wilson) who takes thier business in to a legit area and makes them more money then they dreamed of. This movie really surprised me in the fact that I was expecting a straight comedy. While this movie had its really funny moments its also dramatic throughout. An amazing cast helps tell the story of someone other then Mark Zuckerberg getting rich off the internet. The events that happen in the movie made me wonder why I've never heard of this guy before. Overall this was a very enjoyable movie and I highly recommend it. I give it a B+.

Would I watch again? - Yes, I definately would

Goats

Just kick back and watch it
"Goats" tracks its main character Ellis Whitman (Graham Phillips), a 15-year-old Arizonan as he leaves the gorgeous desert compound his addled New Age mother Wendy (Vera Farmiga), has decamped to with her trust fund. Ellis has spent much of his early formative years taking treks and toking down with Goat Man, aka Javier, (David Duchovny) with whom he smokes copious amounts of grass and generally hangs out.

Ellis heads to an equally gorgeous New England prep school his own absent straitlaced rich father Frank (Ty Burrell) once attended. In fact, his dad had roomed there with the current headmaster, and so the bar is set high for Ellis. He smokes his courses (cut off from his cannabis connection), meets up with other potheads at the school, runs cross-country after some coercion from the hip track coach, declines a liaison with local dining-hall staffer Minnie (Dakota Johnson), who spends her time reading and making extra money off the student bodies. Ellis initially runs...

Goats -- WHAT?!
What? I saw this at Sundance, where everyone loved it, then I read a bunch of bad reviews on-line and thought there must be another film called "Goats." I mean, the poster and the DVD cover are kind of cheesy, but the film is really strong.

I watched it again on PPV a few weeks ago and it was as good as I remembered.

Funny and not too boisterous or obvious, this film snuck up on me and the 1500 other people at Sundance, and turned out to be a real charmer. Duchovny is kind of genius as Goat Man, both weird and believable. I liked Justin Kirk a lot, too, and Ty Burrell's nervous restraint is fun to watch.

"It's The Journey That Counts" - Goat Man
This is quite a different atmosphere for a coming of age story through and around ... Goats? Yes. Christopher Neil directs this film with charming style and abundant laughs. I was trepidatious about renting this one. While this may not be to everybody's liking, it works all the way around for me.

This movie is really about 15 year old Ellis (Graham Phillips) who is surrounded by a most colorful family. He is ready to go his own way from Tucson to Gates Prep School on the East Coast; the same school his father, Frank (Ty Burrell), went to before him and the area where he has been living now.

His mother, whom he calls Wendy by name, (Vera Farmiga, who shines in this) is a mix of the spiritual and New Age philosophies floating around in her own self-absorbed reality. If you can rope in Wendy's personality in a couple of sentences you are far better spoken than I.

Goat Man (David Duchovny) or Javier, take your pick, is a 'botanist' and an experienced...

Amazing!
This show is incredible, it has everything you could want! Great acting, hot guys, hot girls, all of them being badass, comedy, drama, and romance! Season 3 is the best because they added Peter Mooney who is just a dream come true.

I have to disagree...
I have been watching the series since it first started. In fact, I watch several different shows season by season, and just got around to this part of the 3rd season.

[Warning: Spoilers]

Having read the other two (1 Star) reviews, I must say I entirely disagree. First off, the idea that two officers could be assaulted like that, it as not as farfetched as you may think. The officer was following up on the case of Gail being missing, and let his guard down as he initially was just trying to get information to help them towards another direction. Naturally the suspect, now realizing he was in way over his head, assaulted Jerry in an effort to try to escape.

Now to the point of this episode being sad, yes there is no doubt about it. This episode really pulled at the heartstrings. But let's keep in mind this is a Drama, it is supposed to make you feel, and although there are many other ways Jerry could've left the show (being fired, promoted, quitting,...

What To Expect When You're Expecting [DVD + Digital Copy]

Okay
There were 2 parts that my wife and I enjoyed when she was about 20 weeks pregnant. But it wasn't that funny and mostly boring.

Right On The Money
This is hilarious! After having one kid and with another on the way I can say that this movie is right on the money. They were somehow able to capture the funny and sometimes disgusting aspects of pregnancy without cheapening the miracle of having a baby. They show Cameron Diaz as the celebrity pregnancy, Jennifer Lopez vying for adoption, Brooklyn Decker as the trophy wife having twins, Anna Kendrick "Rosie" as the one night stand, and Elizabeth Banks with the super-planned pregnancy. When I first saw the trailer for the movie I laughed until I cried, and now having seen the movie, I am not disappointed. P.S. It's a husband friendly movie - mine sure enjoyed it.

Yet another chick-flick that I thought was great and liked it almost as much as my wife. I say A.
"I just wanted the glow. The one that they promise you on the cover of those magazines. Well, I'm calling it - pregnancy sucks. Making a human being is really hard. I have no control over my body or my emotions." This is a movie based off the famous book and deals with five different couples and how they handle pregnancy ranging from problems trying to adopt to having a sickeningly easy time giving birth. This is yet another movie dealing with many different couples and relationship problems but this is one of the better ones. I have said before that I am not really a fan of this type of genre but I really enjoyed this movie and laughed throughout. It may be because I have a kid and went through the whole pregnancy thing with my wife but I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this movie. I am also really shocked at my favorite movies of the last few weeks. I have really enjoyed "Think Like A Man" and "Five-Year Engagement" and once again I think this "chick-flick" is the best movie of...

I find this too be a pretty good workout! I like the music in it as well! I recently got a back injury after doing a kickboxing class. I have been since looking for workout videos which are easy enough to follow and don't jerk your body around the same way which kickboxing does. I think I found a gem! I hope my review will help others to give this workout a try! =)

Scary Or Die

SCARY OR DIE TRYING
SCARY OR DIE is akin to films like TALES FROM THE CRYPT --- five stories of the macabre overseen by a ghastly host. The host in SCARY is the webmaster of a site devoted to such ghoulish tales. We get stories about zombies resurrected on the US/American border; a lonely businessman picks up a deadly bevy of dangerous beauties; a hitman screws up big time; a killer clown bites a young father who undergoes a horrifying transformation, and a short epilogue that identifies the webmaster.
SCARY OR DIE didn't procure any major stars so the acting is mediocre at best. A moderately enjoyable film worth a rental if you are into horror anthologies.

Five Stories That Hit or Miss - But Should Satisfy Horror Fans
Scary or Die has its moments as a collection of short horror movies, but each story included is either entertaining or forgettable. It takes a page from Creepshow in that you're treated to a variety of different stories, although there's no single tie-in that really connects them. The only real link between each short is that characters overlap, though sometimes in a fun and subtle way that you may not catch at first.

The less you know about the plot of any of these stories, the more you will enjoy the movie. What surprised me most was that Scary or Die was shot on a shoestring budget, but visually it's a great horror movie. The directing and cinematography were surprisingly good, especially the great colors and visuals of the Koreatown story, Teujung's Lament. If you're a fan of gore, Scary or Die shouldn't disappoint. Not every segment of the film offers up blood or violence, but those that do should satisfy most horror fans.

The highlight of Scary or Die,...

"Not as Good as Everyone Makes it to be"
"Scary or Die" is an anthology horror film that I found to be no where near as good as other reviews and ratings have made it out to be. Yes it is well shot for a very small budget but the stories leave more to be desired. I do not want to spoil any of the shorts because doing so would ruin any enjoyment you could find in them. If they would of been longer, especially the second short the film could of been so much better. The only short that was really worth watching, also being the longest of the shorts, was "Clowned" the fourth entry.
It was actually original for me and would of been nice as a full length feature. If you have nothing better to watch check it out as everyone's tastes are different and you might actually enjoy it. As for me, especially being a horror fan, I couldn't find enough enjoyment in it to watch again. If you want to watch some better horror anthology films check out "The Theatre...

Green for Danger

Star vehicle for a tragically forgotten star
Alastair Sim is tragically remembered today for only one role: he was without any question the definitive Ebenezer Scrooge, and usually the only film that anyone today has seen featuring Sim is his 1951 turn in A CHRISTMAS CAROL. In fact, Sim starred in a wide range of comedic and dramatic roles in the 1940s and 1950s. He was a familiar enough presence that Alec Guinness paid homage to him by doing a straightforward imitation of Sim in the 1955 film THE LADYKILLERS, evening wearing false teeth to look more like Sim.

Sim managed to play in a large number of comedic suspense and mystery films. He starred in a series of Inspector Hornleigh films in the early forties, he went on to play memorable roles in wartime mysteries such as COTTAGE TO LET (with a very young John Mills in a key role), GREEN FOR DANGER, AN INSPECTOR CALLS (in which he plays a ghostly police inspector), and THE GREEN MAN, in which Sim plays a congenial assassin. But Sim also excelled in pure farce, and was...

Go For The Green!
I was absolutely thrilled to see that "Green For Danger" is finally being released on DVD. This is without a doubt one of the very best murder mysteries ever put onto film. Everything about this film, the acting, the writing, the direction, the photography - everything is world class. And Alastair Sim as Inspector Cockrill is the icing on the cake. If I had any complaint to make against this film it would be this - Why didn't this film lead to a whole series of Inspector Cockrill films? This is a wonderful piece of entertainment and I would urge any film fan not to miss it.

thanks, Criterion
I've seen the Criterion dvd of GREEN FOR DANGER and all I can say is "thank you" to Criterion for the care they lavished on it. It is, without question, the finest video presentation ever seen of this brilliant film. After years of watching dark, grainy 16mm prints on TV (and dark, grainy vhs copies and laserdiscs) it is truly wonderful to see this top-flight dvd.

The film is, of course, the penultimate British murder mystery, the best that has ever been done. Let's face it: no movie that rates an entire chapter in a book ("The Detective Film" by Everson) can be dismissed lightly. Just get the disc and enjoy it. Those reviewers who recommended you curl up on a cold and windy night with a cup of warm liquid and watch it have given you sage advice.

At last GREEN FOR DANGER's gorgeous cinematography by Wilkie Cooper can be appreciated for the thing of beauty that it is. It is not for nothing that the American Society of Cinematographers included this picture in...

Blindness / Proof [Blu-ray]

Great combo of two great underappreciated films
Echo Bridge Home Entertainment released this Miramax set of two really awesome movies in hi-def. I was really excited to see Blindness, but Proof ended up really blowing me away. Both films were creative, smart, and equally moving despite their very different stories. Blindness, making its Blu-ray debut, is a dark epidemic flick while Proof is an intelligent tale of a young woman's conflicts with herself and others as she copes with living in the shadow of her brilliant yet insane father. Both films in my opinion are underrated and deserve a lot more attention. The one star deduction is due to the release lacking subtitles (as most Echo Bridge titles do).

The Devil Inside [Blu-ray]

Not nearly as bad as most peoPle are saying
I'm honestly shocked too see so many bad reviews. This movie was clever, disturbing, original, convincing and well-acted. There was nothing pedestrian about it, and it seems most people who dislike it tend to like the average, predictable films there are too many of. Many, not all seem to enjoy these. I for one love scary movies but hate gore, and hate predictable, disposable movies with a passion. I typically agree with the audience when there's a massive number of thumbs-down, but in this particular case, I completely disagree. Someone even said it was "boring". I wasn't bored for a second, so I have no idea what they're talking about, but I guess if you don't like movies about exorcisms or hauntings, you'll dislike this as well, obviously. As far as exorcism films go, it's one of the better I've seen.

the devil inside
Had a some hope for this one after reading reviews here however all was lost with the first scene...back to shaking camera and flashlight lighting. Man, when is it going to stop with this approach to low budget films. the fake documentary style is just so over done and stale ..glad it was a redbox flick(money wise) but still waste of time sitting through it. I like to rent movies because of all the crap on the tube but recently its been a wash with the movies coming out nowadays

I Have to Defend This Movie a Little (Includes Spoilers)
The Devil Inside opens with footage of a 1989 news story about an eerie 9-1-1 call made by Maria Rossi (played by Suzan Crowley) where she calmly confesses to brutally murdering three people. Twenty years later, her daughter Isabella is filming a documentary about exorcism in an attempt to understand the truth about what happened to her mother, and she travels to the Centrino Hospital for the Criminally Insane in Italy where her mother is a patient. Along the way, Isabella stops by a school in Rome and recruits two young priests to assist her in determining whether her mother is just mentally ill or demonically possessed. When the group attempts to treat Isabella's mom using unconventional methods combining both medicine and religion, they come face-to-face with four sinister demons who have possessed Maria, and one of them may even be the Devil itself.

This film opened very strong at the box office but dropped drastically in its second week, likely due to extremely...

Cleanskin

Terrorism On British Soil: This Action Film Covers Familiar Territory, But Finds A Unique Voice As It Progresses
Truthfully, I'd give any movie with Sean Bean in it a chance and that was a primary point of interest in checking out Hadi Hajaig's "Cleanskin." Include the marvelous Charlotte Rampling, and it's an added bonus that's hard to resist. "Cleanskin" is yet another British action film that examines the effects of terrorism on domestic soil. There have been so many films and TV shows on this subject, it might well be impossible to offer up anything new. "Cleanskin," from a plotting standpoint, certainly isn't breaking the mold you've come to expect. It opens with a bold action sequence, obvious budget constraints, and sketchy character development. After about thirty minutes, I'd almost written it off as unimaginative and completely routine. But the uneven tone of the opening slowly starts to settle itself into a groove and the picture begins to get progressively better. Credit must be given to Bean. He doesn't have a lot of shading, but his relentless brutality is riveting. Even...

IT'S IN MY NATURE
Terrorist are able to steal some plastic explosives from British Intelligence. The British have placed a tracer in the Semtex explosives. When a terrorist uses the explosives, Charlotte Rampling (Charlotte McQueen) of the agency asks agent Ewan (Sean Bean) to do whatever is necessary to find the terrorists, even going beyond standard protocol. Mark (Tom Burke) will be his young assistant.

Meanwhile, we do get to see our terrorist in a subplot. It starts six years ago and goes into his indoctrination and transformation. The film let's us see the conflict within the Muslim community as those who see the west as evil, those who destroy and rape their culture. And then there are those who admire the west for its freedom and opportunities it affords people of all religions.

This is one of the better British crime/drama/thrillers I have seen, primarily because they have imitated American films and have stopped trying to do them the British way with quirky humor and...

A very good action movie
I picked up an advanced copy and thought it was going to be a typical British movie which I do not like. I was pleasantly surprised how very good it was.

The story is interesting. It had plenty of twists and turns that kept me interested throughout keeping your interest up until the end. Some of the story, I thought could have used some work, for example, a fundamentalist Muslim cleric is unlikely to be too excited about going to his boy birthday party. If he did, he would not mention it publicly. The scene, however, is important as it shows the attitude the cleric has to his disciple. To the people that organise suicide bombers, these people are a weapon, not people. Some of the other scenes on recruitment to Islamic terrorism seemed a bit too simple - Hollywoodish. Still overall it was well done. It showed a young muslim guy looking for something and how he gets drawn to terrorism.

The acting was good. The characters are interesting. I did like the fighting...

Rosewood Lane

How Do Movies this Bad Get Made?
Don't investors even bother to read the script?

Here's the basic plot: a celebrity psychologist/talk show host moves into her dead father's house, where she is promptly menaced by a paperboy. But despite ample evidence that the paperboy has invaded her home and stalked her, the cops and her friends ignore her, because they all know she has a troubled psychological past. In other words, "Oh, Rose, just because he shows up in your basement unannounced and urinates in your boyfriend's face doesn't mean you're not crazy."

It quickly becomes clear that the paperboy is some sort of demon who murdered Rose McGowan's father, so Rose does the smart thing: instead of moving out of the house, she adopts a cat for protection and arms herself with a baseball bat. The cat does nothing to help her out, but the baseball bat comes in mighty handy after the demon paperboy murders her boyfriend, her best friend and a police detective and shoots Rose through the torso with a...

Pretty Decent
Decent creepy movie, definitely. However I have to agree with another reviewer - the ending left me confused. I know some people love the elusive ending - but really, just wrap it up for me. I think it's a bit of a copout to leave it kind of open. But the movie itself was really quite decent - and yes, nursery rhymes are pretty violent!!

A tense movie with a very creepy kid that really helps the horror aspect of the movie. Worth renting. I say B-
"Hickory Dickory Dock..." Talk radio psychiatrist Dr. Sonny Blake (McGowan) is moving back in to her father's house one year after his death. Her neighbor gives her a warning about the neighborhood paperboy. After meeting him she begins to notice that he is very strange and may have actually killed her father. When she goes to the cops they don't believe her stories and she is left to discover the truth on her own. I have to start by saying that overall this was a pretty creepy movie. It was pretty tense and interesting but began to repeat itself after 45 minutes and seemed like the same 2 scenes were being done over and over. The kid in this is very creepy and he makes the movie. This is the kind of movie that makes you want to scream at the people on the TV to turn around. All that said the movie is a little slow in parts but still not a bad watch. Very much worth renting. Overall, tense and creepy and worth seeing. I give it a B-.

Fist Full of Westerns

not worth it
I bought this set of films because of Blind Man, have been looking for a widescreen copy of this film for a long time. I liked it when it first came out in theaters and found it quite enjoyable. My complaint is the running time is only 1hr 23 min, yet according to other sources the running time is 1hr 45 min, so that means 20 to 25 mins are missing. Also if I remember right Ringo sang the title song and that was missing, so I'm really disappointed in what I purchased. As for the other films "And God Said To Cain" The slip cover says widescreen. it is not it is in pan and scan, just like three of the other films. picture quality on all six films is very poor, it looks like they where taken from a vhs tape. All have a lot of artifacting and are almost next to impossible to watch. I am disappointed in these films and feel that pop flix could have done a better job on them.

fistful of westerns
I would recommend this video simply for the price. My only gripe I had with any of the videos is the video Blindman. I have never seen it before but I got the impression that it was cut up alot.

Seduced and Abandoned

Battling For Honor--A Classic Italian Comedy Takes No Prisoners
Pietro Germi, fresh from the success of his "Divorce Italian Style" (which won a Screenplay Oscar), returns with another slapstick slice of Sicilian life. Those familiar with the genre, and particularly Germi, will recognize the same black humor and macabre sensibilities that fashioned many pictures of the day. There is the requisite machismo, the sexual double standards, the wild gesticulating, and the need to preserve family honor at all cost. Wait a minute--maybe those are the same qualities employed in many films today!

I'll be frank, if you don't know what you're getting into, "Seduced and Abandoned" may seem a bit misogynistic. There is definitely a strong division of the sexes which we're not as accustomed to seeing in modern films. However, much of the sexual warfare plays as satire--so even though the stereotypes can be somewhat dismaying, none of the characters escape unscathed. Basically, Germi sets an environment where everyone is despicable. It's the...

Hilarious!
This movie is hilarious and entertaining as can be! I loved "Divorce Italian Style" by Pietro Germi so I took the risk of buying "Seduced and Abandoned" from Criterion without ever seeing it. In my opinion I actually enjoyed it more than Divorce Italian Style! I won't repeat the plot again but the movie definitly brings you into their family. Once your sucked in it turns into a hilarious nail biter taking unexpected turns and twists. Very memorable movie I highly recommend purchasing for repeated viewings!

a nice Italian comedy
This review is for the Criterion Collection DVD edition of the film.

"Seduced and Abandoned" known in Italy as "Sedotta e abbandonata" is about a family and the teenage daughter becomes pregnant. Her father is outraged and tries to exact revenge on the man who impregnated her.

The DVD contains a theatrical trailer, interviews with Stefania Sandrelli and Lando Buzzanca, Stefania Sandrelli's screen test and Commedia all'italiana, Germi Style, a special with interviews with cast and crew.

This is a really humorous film and I recommend it.

Sublime (Raw Feed Series)

Excellent
I am a physician who has dealt with people going through similar experiences. This movie is quite thought provoking in this regard. I tend to agree with a prior reviewer that those who trash it are either looking for a slash movie or do not have the intelligence to realize the implications of this movie. This movie is quite deep on a number of levels. The acting is excellent, the photography is excellent, the plot is intriguing and thought provoking. I would highly recommend it to people who like to do some thinking while watching movies. And to those who watch a lot of movies and enjoy something out of the ordinary. Exraordinary in fact.

Caution Horror Fans
Due to the the intensity of the reaction to this film by fans of the horror genre (who are so disturbed as to spoil the story in their reviews) I thought I'd throw this in, for what it's worth:

SUBLIME was an experiment on nearly every level. Raw Feed is a Warner Bros. experiment to make "horror" films within the BROADEST definition of the genre. Films designed to be released directly to DVD.

John Shiban, Tony Krantz and Daniel Myrick would each make a film in 15 days for a budget of roughly 1.5 million dollars. Any one of them essentially could do whatever they wanted to do - to play into the genre, to satirize it, to bend it. Mr. Krantz's notion was to take the present atmosphere of fear and doubt that has pervaded our world; the very real statistics about "health care"; and the horror of the Terry Schiavo case, and make a movie.

My involvement in the film came out of my close friendship with Tony. Inspired by an Ambrose Bierce short story "An...

Smart film marketer to entirely the wrong crowd
For what it's worth, I enjoyed Sublime. Was it a tad too long....absolutely, but that is a forgivable point. I believe that this film is getting bad reviews primarily because it was marketed to the wrong crowd. I think that had this film been presented as a psychological thriller with some supernatural overtones, I think it would have been received much better.

The acting is quite impressive, and so is the writing and cinematography. Kudos to all of the individuals who were involved in the making of this film as I find that they have all gone above and beyond their call of duty considering the time and budgetary challenges that this movie presented.

I recommend this film to anyone who enjoys stories which challenge you and make you think and talk about what you just saw. If movies like Memento, Insomnia, Jacob's Ladder and anything that Lynch or Cronenberg have made adornes your DVD collection, then Sublime will make a good addition!

My Trip to Al-Qaeda

Compelling and Concise: Understanding The History, Culture, And Psychology That Led To 9/11
To be completely honest, I had very little interest in seeing another documentary film profiling Bin Laden, Al-Qaeda, or even the events of 9/11. After ten years of watching every related news profile and non-narrative (and fictional) movie on these topics, I'm on complete information overload. What's left to say? I mention this in preface to my comments about Alex Gibney's "My Trip to Al-Qaeda" because the experience really took me by surprise. I found this film to be so smart, so insightful, so unusual, and absolutely riveting. I'm not prone to unnecessary hyperbole (like Best Movie Ever!), but I think this is nearly essential in understanding the history, culture and psychology that led to that fateful day. But it doesn't stop there, it offers further commentary about the aftermath of the event and critically examines actions in the war on terror that might have been a part of a master plan. And whether or not you take these conclusions as gospel, it certainly presents an...

Good documentary, but a bit of a stretch.
Overall, this is a decent documentary that sheds light on how Al Qaeda formulated. Like one other reviewer said, Lawrence Wright's monologues seem a bit forced an unnatural. The biggest criticism I have is that Wright more or less asserts that bin Laden turned on the United States because his pride was hurt when we turned down his offer to help with the invasion of Desert Storm. Maybe Wright didn't mean to state this as the only reason, but he focused on it like it was a main reason.

Superb Background
One of my students (I teach a violence and terrorism course at one of the CSU campuses) taped this from HBO for me. It is magnificent and this should receive an award. If you wonder why we have terrorism today, this tells a significant part of the story. Wright outlines how Egypt, our ally, a dictatorship, but our dictatorship, managed to turn Islamists into Jihadists. Thanks, President Carter. You managed to create Sunnis that are now willing to kill us and then in Iran, Shias willing to kill us. This should be mandatory viewing for everyone. I will buy it as soon as it is available. Very well done. TC

The Devil's Messenger

Two Outta Three Ain't Good
Lon Chaney jr. plays the devil in this 3 part horror anthology. He gives one of his female lost souls a chance to be his assistant on earth. Her name is "Satanya" and she delivers various key items to the main characters in each story. The first one involves a psycho photographer, who takes a picture of a strange girl before murdering her. Let's just say that she is not happy! She haunts the man in a unique way. In the second story (the weakest of the three), a girl is found underground, frozen in ice. An anthropologist falls in love with her and kills one of his colleagues for trying to study her. He then defrosts his "girlfriend" and a strange surprise awaits him. The final story is about a man who dreams of being on a dark street and entering a door. His psychologist convinces him to actually visit the place. When he does, he runs into a fortune teller who tells him that she will kill him by midnight. This is the best of the trilogy, and has a cool twist ending. All in all a fair...

Finally, Alpha Video improves quality
It is hard to resist the Alpha Video titles with their great cover art and low prices even after buying some of their early releases that were of such poor quality. However, the quality of their recent releases is improving dramatically. The Devil's Messenger fits into that category.

The Devil's Messenger is actually just 3 episodes of an unreleased TV series filmed in Sweden called "13 Demon Street." Curt Siodmak wrote and directed the series but was unable to find a US distributer. No company ever wants to see their celluloid go to waste, so 3 of the best episodes of the series were linked together using Lon Chaney as the Devil to form the Devil's Messenger.

A woman has committed suicide and meets up with the Devil (Chaney) at the gates of Hades. He offers her a deal if she will deliver 3 messages to the surface. This is how the three episodes are introduced. I won't spoil the stories. While this is no classic, it is nice to see Chaney and the transfer is quite good...

a cheaper creeper
Anything Lon Chaney Jr. is in is worth watching, but these cheaper creepers are a laugh a minute. Here he's the Devil playing games with three oddballs: One is a scientist so smitten with a girl he found frozen in ice he murders a colleague trying to defrost her.
Like I said, a laugh a minute.

Tim Tebow: On a Mission

A mediocre documentary about the most interesting man in the NFL
Tim Tebow is a fascinating guy for lots of reasons-- his personality, his life story, his career thus far, the media hype-- and this documentary tries to cover it all, from his birth in the Philippines in 1987 to the trade to the Jets in March 2012. It consists mainly of the following:

1) Interviews with several sports reporters who've followed his career, as well as a few high school teammates, and the athletic director and assistant coach from his high school.
2) A bit of footage from high school and college games (I liked the clip of him running for a touchdown on a broken leg in high school!)
3) Voice-over narration.
4) Visual filler. There's no NFL footage and not much footage of Tebow in general, so instead we see an anonymous football player dressed in vague approximations of Tebow's uniforms, who runs around a field with a football striking Tebow-esqe poses. There are also a few still photographs of Tebow that pop up again and again, with pans...

Not All That I Had Hoped For
I appreciated Rachel Gray's review of this video as it pretty much sums it up nicely and reflects most of how I felt. In terms of my contribution to critiquing this video, I suppose the over-riding thought as I watched it was, "What was the point of making this?" Mainly, I wondered why it was made at probably the most uncertain point of his NFL career, that being just after his trade to the New York Jets. I think that a documentary should only be made about an athlete after he has retired after an exceptional career and/or reached the high point, in this case a Super Bowl championship.

I was going to conclude that it was made solely for the $ame rea$on other Tebow production$ are being made the$e day$. However, I realized that it was more likely made to inspire younger people to aspire to more noble things in life, like good character, hard work, and commitment instead of going after money and things or, conversely, expecting life to be handed to you on a silver...

Disappointing for a true Tebow fan
This documentary was a major disappointment for someone who is a true Tebow fan. There was no new information, no new stories, and there weren't even any interviews with Tim, his family, or those closest to him. There were interviews with a couple reporters, a high school football teammate and assistant coach, amongst others. It seemed as if the film company didn't have rights to use a lot photos or video of Tim as there were actors pretending to be Tim playing football. My husband and I have followed Tim for years and were excited that there was a new video, however we almost had to laugh at how bad it was. Glad we only spent $7 on this. I guess you get what you pay for though!

The Prophecy / The Prophecy II: God's Army [Blu-ray]

The best two films of the Prophecy franchise on one blu-ray disc!
These are the two best films of the Prophecy franchise, & they are on one blu-ray disc.
I actually like the 2nd film a bit more than the first film.
The PQ and AQ on the blu are pretty decent IMO.
Recommended for fans of the Prophecy series.

Good buy!
A great price for a 2-disc blu-ray set. The first movie in particular is a classic for fans of this type of horror.

Only two worth owning.
Nice looking blu-ray is bare bones but does feature the only two of this franchise worth owning. Gregory Widen writes and directs the first Prophecy, a clever and often very creepy horror flick concerning a second war in Heaven spilling out onto the Earth. Jealous over the attention God has given humankind, the Archangel Gabriel (Christopher Walken) has waged a war that has lasted centuries. But, if he can acquire the soul of a heinously evil human general who has recently died, it could turn the tide. But, loyal angel Samuel (Eric Stoltz) has hidden the soul in a little girl, Mary (Moriah Snyder) and now it's up to ex-priest turned cop, Thomas (Elias Koteas) and school teacher, Katherine (Virginia Madsen) to stop Gabriel from getting the soul from Mary. Complicating matters is a third party, Lucifer (Viggo Mortensen) who has an invested interest in how this situation plays out. Widen gives this film a nice atmosphere and creatively weaves Bible scripture into this very original and...

Episode 1 [HD]

For the Anglican in your life!
Both seasons 1 and 2 of this quirky series are for those who love British humor, the Church of England (or any Anglican church),and understand the priests are people, too. Fun characters who skim stereotype but are so real. (I can draw parallels to so many people I know.) Enjoy with a Guiness or a G&T!

Big Talk Productions does it again
I wrote a term paper on the emotional labor of ministers in the media based on this show. Rev. is a whimsical and slightly exaggerated example of the emotional labor ministers experience. It's a brilliant show and well worth the money. Also, it's made by Big Talk Productions. You can't lose with Big Talk. :P

Charming and delightful
Just the right length for delightful fun. Grew up as a minister's daughter and just had to laugh at the characters and the business of the life.

Adopting Terror

Adopting Psycho Parents!
Adopting Terror aired on Lifetime earlier this year, in which I didn't watch it because I don't care for most of the channel's programming. The movie was made by Asylum Home Entertainment, whom I have reviewed a few DVDs for this year, and they nicely let me view an online screening of Adopting Terror through Fordela.

The movie stars Sean Astin and Samaire Armstrong as Tim and Cheryl Broadbent, who are proud parents of their newly adopted daughter, Mona. Just when they are adjusting to being a family, a stranger shows up at Mona's first birthday party. The stranger is Mona's birthfather, Kevin Anderson (played by Brendan Fehr), who was released from prison on a technicality.

Kevin follows Cheryl while she is grocery shopping, he shows up at their house, and he even shows up at their friend's home to mow the yard. The police can't help them as there is no real proof that he is stalking them. The social worker, Fay Hopkins (played Monet Mazur), tries to give them...

Love it!
This movie is one surprise after another very suspenceful. I was deff thrown a curve ball when finding whom the child's true parents were.

Waste of Electricity
What a waste of time this movie was. I even regret the amount of electricity I used to watch this movie. This by far has to be the worst Lifetime movie I have ever seen. The character's were shallow. At first I thought that the adoptive mom had a speach impediment, but then realized it was just the way she spoke. Also, her hair was so thin that you could see the wallpaper designs through her hair. The acting was terrible - to the point that even the baby was annoying. This is one of those movies that you wonder who gave the movie the "green light" for it to be produced, and how drunk were they. The adoptive father was a complete twit. There were so many unrealistic scenes in the movie and just the whole storyline seemed absurd. No research was done. I would have rated this movie as "0" stars, but I had to put in at least "1" star - and that in itself is far too generous.

Support? System Down

This is a powerful message that needs to get out
Fit parents should NEVER be court-ordered to stay away from their children. The family court program does just that - forcibly separates fit & loving parents from their children, and then cynically uses the children to "loot" them and "shake them down" for cash. Family court law operates under the premise of "this is all in the children's best interests." The problem is, the powerfull special interests that run family court law only see children as pawns. The court-room does not recognize the fact that children need both fit and loving parents - equally. The court-room has been turned into a corrupt arena that alienates the children from one fit parent (overwhelmingly the father) and then uses the children to plunder and criminialize that parent. If you truly care about what's best for our children then get this movie - and support the cause to get the truth out (to the public) about family court law.

Must View for MRAs
This film provides an excellent insight into the injustices so readily evident in our family court system nowadays. There are quite a few first hand accounts of its dysfunction (and admittedly what I saw was only a preview). Support? describes quite well the bias that exists against fathers. A doctrine that many of us know about is equitable paternity whereby the court can make a man pay for child support even though he's not the biological father. Here a man is robbed of 50,000 dollars in total even though a DNA test revealed that he was NOT the child's father. This is the mother of all scams and that our government allows it to occur is absolutely disgraceful. The initiator of the scam in this case--the woman who lied to her man--actually filed a restraining order against him out of spite after he stopped paying support. He had an emotional bond with the child that he thought was his. The woman who is interviewed wanted to have nothing to do with his presence after the checks...

Eye opening
Very good documentary about a system commonly understood to help families, not hurt them! Being in a marriage where we have agreed to NEVER use the child support system if we divorce, this film was eye opening. Good job!

The Lady Vanishes

A Perfect Lady
This 1937 comic thriller is one of the first great masterpieces of Alfred Hitchcock. Based on Ethel Lina White's novel, THE WHEEL SPINS, it mixes laughs and chills better than just about any other film, before or since. A nervous bride-to-be (beautiful Margaret Lockwood) meets a sweet elderly woman (the magnificent Dame May Whitty) on a train bound through Europe to London just before WWII. Also aboard: a roguish musicologist (Michael Redgrave), a pair of adulterers (Cecil Parker and Linden Travers), a smooth German doctor (Paul Lukas), two delightfully fussy cricket fans (Basil Radford and Naunton Wayne), and a mysterious nun (Catherine Lacy) wearing sexy high heels under her habit. When the old lady disappears from the moving train, the young heroine investigates, and everyone else aboard insists that she is mistaken--there never was any old lady....

I can think of no higher tribute to Hitchcock than the fact that so many recent hit films are virtual remakes of his...

Budget Release Meets/Exceeds Expectations
First the usual warnings: caveat emptor, you get what you pay for, etc. etc. etc., yadda yadda yadda, blah blah blah. With that out of the way, let me say that getting these three early Hitchcock films at such a low price is an extremely good deal. Sure they're blurry in parts and there are occasional picture/sound glitches, but nothing really interferes with either the storytelling or the suspense, which is really why you're watching them in the first place.

Let me add that the four-star rating is for the DVD as a whole. None of the films are presented at four-star quality (The Lady Vanishes is maybe three-and-a-half), but the fact that you get three movies instead of one or two bumps the score from average to slightly-above.

The Man Who Knew Too Much is the oldest of the three movies and its print and sound quality are the most deteriorated. Nevertheless, the symphony scene and the final gunfight retain their suspensefulness. The movie holds its own against...

A Cinematic Masterpiece
There's one thing that movies can do better than any other artistic medium. It's having you experience something from a character's point of view, and then having every other character in the movie say it never happened. Your empathy as a viewer is at its highest pitch: you saw what happened with your own eyes, and so you see it through the character's eyes as well, but then everyone denies it. This is the central scene on the train in THE LADY VANISHES. Nothing, absolutely nothing, in my opinion, is more cinematic than this. When the idea is used to trick the viewer (as in THE USUAL SUSPECTS), it's not as good (although still it's pretty good, because again it uses film in the most empathetic way possible). And when the trickery is fair--as in THE SIXTH SENSE--it can be superb. I rank THE LADY VANISHES right up there with VERTIGO, PSYCHO, and REAR WINDOW, as Hitchcock's greatest gifts to us, the moviegoers of the world. I would even add SHADOW OF A DOUBT to this...

Thank You Billy Graham

YES, Thank you Billy Graham!
I cry every time I play the CD or DVD. The Bible says to "give honor to whom honor is due" and it is certainly fitting here! Billy Graham has touched my life too-and I highly recommend this to anyone who feels the same way!

Not What I Expected At All
I really enjoy Billy Graham but this DVD does nothing to tell about him at all. It consists of 1 country song singing about him. Other than the 1 song it's all about people saying "thank you Billy Graham". No story to it what so ever, just "thank you Billy Graham".

Little Ditch The Black River Canal

Understanding the present
I purchased this video for my husband. He works in NY and travels there from our state several times a year. The locks that we noticed in upstate NY were a mystery. Why were they there? This documentary is a must see for anyone in the area and those interested in history. Relics from the past that had a huge impact on the economics and development of our country will stimulate the interest of many.

Historical
Very informative especially if you live in this area. Some of the ditch is still present. Really enjoyed it.
A good history lesson for students who live in this area especially.
